BECOMING A TENNIS COACH THROUGH THE HDN ACADEMY PROGRAMME

Becoming a tennis coach is an incredible opportunity to get up every day to go and do your dream job.

 

Your day will be rich in variety: you will of course teach tennis, but the job also involves organisation, planning, self sacrifice and player monitoring. You will work with a broad range of people: young people, adults, beginners, competitive players and even professionals.

Want to become a tennis coach? Here are our prerequisites and advice on how to optimise your chances:

Our prerequisites:

  • Be 18 or older

  • Hold a valid FFT (French Tennis Federation) licence

  • Be classed or have been classed as 15/2 at minimum

  • Hold a CQP ET (professional tennis coach qualification certificate), and a PSC1 (first aid certificate)

Our advise:

If your goal is to become a tennis coach and you’re an upper secondary school pupil, we advise you to choose HDN Academy’s Tennis/Padel sports + studies programme as this will provide you with the best possible preparation for your future tennis coach studies which include training on teaching Padel.

The HDN Academy has been training apprentice coaches every year for more than 20 years.

Our expertise allows us to offer a tailor-made program that will allow each trainee to be ready when he takes the DE JEPS selection tests.

 

Here is our support program:

 

  • Tennis training, physical and mental preparation with the objective of reaching the rise to 15/2 as quickly as possible or to improve its ranking for players already 15/2 or more

  • Arbitration and referee training

  • Support in obtaining the compulsory CQPET (training provided by the Gard departmental committee)

  • Support in obtaining the compulsory PSC1 (prevention and civic relief level 1)

  • Educational work in the field, supervised by a qualified and experienced coach to develop his educational experience

  • Specific preparation for selection tests with written and oral tests (mock exams)

  • Padel training and training

Optional :

  • Competition support from one of HDN Academy’s qualified coaches (pre-match preparation, debriefing etc.)​

  • 2 hours of English classes a week

DEJEPS training in a CREPS training centre

Training can take place over 1 or 2 years based on the candidate’s preference.

  • 700 CREPS training centre hours

  • 500 Hours alternating between a club and an academy, within the framework of an apprenticeship or professional training contract.

 

The cost of this training is covered by an OPCO (Opérateur de Compétences, or Skills Body). For sports, AFDAS manages the arrangements for this training.
